Ship to Ship Transfer
The safe and efficient handling and transfer of LNG is at the core of BLNG's vision. LNG at –162°C will be transferred between the ship and the terminal and between ships at sea i.e. a ship to ship or STS operation.
By using a conventional LNG carrier as an off-shore floating storage for LNG, we will increase the flexibility in terms of possible supply sources and balancing between contract volumes and spot volumes. The FSU (Floating Storage Unit) will be regularly replenished using conventional LNG carriers of about the same size while serving as a supply source for the I.M. Skaugen's small LNG carriers shuttling LNG to the shore side terminal.
Fortunately through SPT (www.sptmts.com), Bahrain LNG can call on over 31 years of experience in the safe handling of liquid cargoes at sea. Our experienced masters and terminal management experience ensures that the transfer and handling of LNG is a routine, safe and environmentally sound operation. SPT handles over 850 ship-to-ship transfers one a yearly basis. See graph below.
